Don’t turn people away because of a mess!

Selling your house can be a huge undertaking. For some it may be a great opportunity to declutter their property. I always tell my clients to do as much tidying up as possible so the house doesn't look too busy. Don't forget that your home is now being compared with other potential ones in the market. It is very important to make a great first impression.

The potential buyer wants to know that the property was well taken care of - the first step is to present them with a clean home. For example if you are out buying a vehicle and you see it messy - would you consider buying it? I highly doubt it. You want that fresh car smell with clean carpets and perfect paint shine! Same applies to a house purchase.

Yes! Buyers do check your closets!

Here’s how to get started:

  1. Pick and clean one room at a time. Don't overwhelm yourself!

  2. Schedule a Decluttering Weekend. Perhaps one room per weekend?

  3. Ask for help!

  4. Have boxes ready labeled Donations/Charity

  5. Remember that the clutter occurred over time - Don't stress to get it done in one day!

  6. Make sure you pay extra attention to the main spaces potential buyers check : Kitchen and Washrooms!

  7. Book to have your carpets cleaned - Leave this until you are ready to list your property.

Donate your unused items!

Tip: If you are thinking of selling your home - start by decluttering your home. You want the potential buyer to see the space not your mess!
